Clodagh is Interior Design Hall of Fame inductee and was chosen as one of Design’s Top 100 Interior Designers in America. She has designed six tile collections.  They are Stripes, Quill, Concrete, Puzzle, Shield and Sticks.

Laura Kirar approaches design with the eye of an artist. With the largest collection, Kirar has sixteen patterns in her Impressions collection that is characterized by hand-drawn patterns.

Michael S. Smith

Inspired to design tiles he hasn’t found anywhere else, Michael S. Smith brings his traditional meets modern sensibility to his collections.  His two ceramic tile collections for Ann Saks are Classic and Labyrinth, intricate knot-patterned tiles.

Robert Kuo

Robert Kuo’s two collections include Cloisonné and a carved stone collection using Chinese carving techniques once used on temples. The Cloisonné collection recalls the metal and enamel work of its name known for mixing ancient crafts with modern design.

There are nine design groups within the Weinrib rug collection. Weinrib rugs are available at ABC Carpet & Home and select retailers around the country.

Tibetan, Metallics, and Cottons consist of rugs with Weinrib’s signature patterns and bold color ways. Graphic, lattice, paisley and floral patterns abound in a myriad of color combinations. Colors range from neutral beige and grey, to soft lilacs to strong reds, pinks and deep blues.

Tibetan Stripes, Cotton Stripes, and Wool Flatweaves combine geometric stripes and Weinrib’s bold color sensibilities. The black and white striped rug has been seen in numerous shelter magazines and blogs.

Denims

Geometric and abstract stripe patterns in deep indigo hues recall the quilts of Gees Bend.

Climbers & Ramblers

In earth tones with natural elements, the Climbers & Ramblers is inspired by nature.

Tulus

Tulus is a solid color shag rug collection for Ralph Pucci. Available in seven colors, these rugs measure 6′ x 9′.

How to take an empty drywall shell and turn it into a Glam Regency interior?  This was the design challenge!  My starting point was researching the original design decade of Hollywood Regency, which started in the 1930’s in Hollywood, California.  Hollywood stars lounged on clean-lined furniture and accessorized with ornate decorative art pieces to create that regency flair.  Chinoiserie detailing on furniture, vases and even art imagery was an important component to this look.  Still today the William Haines Company continues the Regency Style in his interiors as well as his original furniture and vintage pieces.

How to tackle the drywall box?  I started with adding wainscoting around the entire room and decorative molding above it to create spaces for art.  We also used dramatic paint finishes, like Devine Color’s Piping, to the pocket door and fireplace woodwork.  This breaks up the monotony of the room.  Since the originally selected velvet damask wallpaper didn’t make the budget cut, the client opted for a brushed metallic glaze over the fireplace wall for the backdrop of the white mirrors.  Final touches include custom throw pillows in vintage orange fabric and aqua dupioni silk round pillows.  We also couldn’t resist a handsome hot pink and brown flocked velvet fabric for the custom ottoman.  The garden stool adds a current touch of the orient to the room.  Now all that is missing is a little Frank Sinatra in the background!

The fireplace design by Rayna Marz Interiors features WalkOn Tile’s “Sugar Cube” which is a natural Thassos marble in split face 3-D.  The elegant “Sugar Cube” mosaic is part of the new 2010 WalkOn Tile Stone Mosaic Collection.  The Interior Designer Rayna Marz approaches the fireplace as an alluring gathering place and a stunning focal point at the heart of every living room design.

We’d like to introduce a new type of post you will be seeing on From the Floors Up – Featured Designers. After seeing the overwhelming popularity of design related posts, we thought you might like to learn what other designers across the country are doing and how they are helping people just like you. Our first featured designer is Beryn Hammil of Beryn Hammil Designs. She is a San Francisco Bay Area Interior Designer who is creating spaces people love coming home to every day.

This Pacific Heights apartment was devoid of any color or personality when Beryn’s client purchased it. To make this new space feel like home for her client, Beryn addressed his preference for traditional elegance by adding color, ornate traditional style architectural details, lots of fabric, and custom made furniture. To keep the feeling intimate, we used a soft “hand” with these strong colors.

Ornate, gold painted chair rail moulding above Lincrusta wallpaper created a wainscot effect on the walls. Then all the surfaces, including the ceiling, were faux painted. Old-world style window treatments used layers of fabric and trim to give the room the feeling of intimacy it needed. Complementary fabric was used on the chairs, and gleaming wax polish on the dining table added the finishing touch.
