Just ran across these wonderful old mosaic tiles in a restaurant in Boulder, Colorado. It’s great seeing floors like this in tact. They add so much personality to a building. Love them!

Sometimes the best mosaics area found in repurposed buildings and remodeled sites that honor the designs of the past.
Thanks for the comment. I couldn’t agree more! It’s like old cars – it amazes me the detail and design you find in these older items vs. newer items.
I love these tiles. In fact, I have recently been thinking about using hex tiles for the floor in my kitchen remodel (house is from the 1870s). I have read, though, that some find them difficult to keep clean and also some associate them very strongly with bathrooms as opposed to kitchens….Doesn’t change my love for them though!
Do you have any recommendations for where to buy these tiles or find a wider variety of size and color (besides black and white, which seem to be the most common)?
Thanks!
Yes! Where are you located? These tiles can require a little more maintenance if you choose white, but if you choose natural stone mosaics – you can seal the stone and the grout. If you choose ceramic, you can still seal the grout. There are a lot of companies now that offer different sizes and colors of mosaics for you to choose from!
I love mosaics tiles.
