Different Window Options for Your Home

November 6, 2019 By creatingyourspace Leave a Comment

Every window on our home serves a purpose. They let in the outside light while opening up your atmosphere. They can also be used to let in fresh air from outdoors. Additionally, quality windows can be necessary for keeping your home insulated. If you are looking to replace your outdated windows, you have many options to consider. There are several great window options available today, but here are four options you may want to consider for your own home:

Transom

Transom windows are usually used for trim. They allow light to enter the home but do not open. These are more ornamental for the exterior of the home than used to ventilate your property. However, they do allow light to enter and can be installed over doorways.

Slider Windows

Slider windows are installed on a track. They can slide horizontally across a track and are often used in many Modern home designs. In most cases, they can be opened from both sides, allowing the window to be in the middle while air wraps around both sides, ventilating the home.

Awning

Awning windows have a hinge that allows them to open outwards. These will not take up space in your interior and can help direct wind into the home. This ventilation option is excellent, even on rainy days. Opening from the top makes an awning effect, which will also prevent rain or snow from coming into the house.

Double-Hung Windows

These window frames hold two windows: one on the top of the frame and one on the bottom. The frame allows these windows to travel vertically up on down along the rails. This is great because you can open your window from the top or from the bottom. This will also prevent the windows from protruding into the room like some windows do.

When looking for the right windows for your home, consider all the options. Some windows may be a better choice for your house needs. You may even consider different options for different areas of your home. Just be sure to do your research before committing to any one type of window.

How to Make a Visual Dramatic Impact to Your Home

November 1, 2019 By creatingyourspace Leave a Comment

Interior design has many ways in which it can captivate our minds. A good design should be functional and fluent. Incorporating a “wow factor” to a room is also a great way to bring your design to the next level. But how do you create that dramatic impact? Some rooms can feel so mundane. Well, you do not need an elaborate room to create some visually stunning features. Here are three great tips for creating a dramatic impact in any room of your home:

Hard Contrast

A tried and true method of catching attention is a hard contrast. Hard contrast is created when two opposing colors are next to one another. While red and blue or orange and green may create a very visible contrast, colors with varying hues will also create this effect. Therefore, the strongest contrast is black and white. You can help create depth to a room by incorporating black and white. These opposite colors create hard lines and a visually noticeable effect.

Ornate Design

A dramatic effect in the atmosphere does not need to be created with contrast. Victorian Design was a very lavished and highly ornate design style. It is hard not to find any aspect of these environments from being visually intriguing. You can create a dramatic effect in your environment by adding some ornate design and going above and beyond the details in your room. Add crown molding, intricate baseboard, unique furniture, and beautiful textiles to accomplish this look. Adding luxury to a room is a for-sure way to take a boring atmosphere and make it stunning.

Enhanced Focal Point

Most good designs will incorporate a focal point to their design. This can be anything from paint, a unique piece of furniture, a chandelier, or even a fireplace. The key is to enhance your focal point. Add depth to your paint or put a spotlight on it. For example, you can add a tile backsplash above your fire mantel to draw more attention to this area. This can help enhance the overall aesthetics of your room by drawing eyes from weaker design areas and forcing them to look at the key points you choose to highlight.

With these three tricks in your arsenal, you will be ready to elevate your design theme. But remember, not all homes are created equal, so carefully evaluate how you can make your space have that “wow factor.” You may need to mix a few of these styles or just make subtle notes of them. Contemporary Design

October 31, 2019 By creatingyourspace Leave a Comment

Contemporary Design is not a style with boundaries. In fact, it is often confused as Modern design. Modern design refers to Mid Century Modern, which is a design style that has come and went in the industry. However, Contemporary Design is the ever-changing fads in design today. It is the most to-date design style with the latest trends. Contemporary Design can be a challenging design style to keep relevant in your home. It borrows ideas through the most recent pop culture and fashion trends, as well as music and design, to help cultivate its influences. To master Contemporary Design, you need to be open-minded and ready to adapt. Here are some key factors to understand about Contemporary Design:

Contemporary Design

Contemporary Design is highly evolving. Like minimalism, Contemporary living is a lifestyle. You need to constantly stay in the loop of what is in style and what is going out of style. Never get too satisfied with a space and be ready to change because adaptability is key. You should also be open to new and innovated ways of doing things. Traditional light fixtures or flooring may be safe, but Contemporary Design will bend the rules and take risks. Be willing to take a risk if this is the design style you choose to follow.

Where to Facilitate

It may be better to go Contemporary in a business-style environment. Continually renovating your storefront year by year can help you stay up to date. Whereas incorporating Contemporary Design in your own home can be very challenging. Contemporary can be affiliated with abstract or unique looking furniture, but it can also change. What is Contemporary today may not be Contemporary in several years from now.

Being adaptable is the best way to use this design. Never get too attached to the layout of your space and be ready to change it at any time. Remember, this design encompasses a range of many styles that have been added in modern years. It can give homage to Modern Design yet has evolved from it. Solution-Dyed Carpets

October 29, 2019 By creatingyourspace Leave a Comment

When shopping for carpet, you will come across many different styles, materials, loops, and colors. Carpets can all have added pros and cons, depending on how they are manufactured and what material is used to create the fibers. You may be interested in a natural material such as wool or go another route such as a synthetic carpet fiber like polyester. There are two types of ways that synthetic carpets are dyed. While how your carpet is dyed may not seem like a big deal to you, there are benefits that may interest you in purchasing a solution-dyed carpet. Let’s take a look!

Traditional Dyeing Methods

There are many ways carpets are dyed, but generally, the traditional way is through dipping the fibers. Fibers are created with a very neutral color like grey or beige. These fibers are created then ran through a dye to stain the fibers. While this process is very complex and can have different stages in the process, this is, traditionally, how color is added to fibers. Imagine an apple. When you see an apple, it has a red coat on the outside of it. However, when you cut a knife through the apple, you can reveal the true white color beneath the skin. This is how the traditional dyed method affects carpets.

Solution-Dyed

Carpets have been engineered to be constructed through synthetic materials. These materials can consist of liquid polymer compounds and chemicals being converted into fibers. Unlike the traditional method, where the fibers are dyed after the carpet fibers are created, solution-dyeing adds the color with the chemical compounds. This allows the fibers to be dyed pre-production and be the true color all the way throughout the carpet. The liquid is then fed through spinnerets and created into yarn to make carpet fibers. So, unlike an apple, you now have a carrot. If you cut the carrot in half, you will still have the orange all the way throughout the vegetable.

Added Benefits

While this can only be done with synthetic fibers, there are many added benefits to the process. The fibers hold the color through themselves. This makes them very difficult for color to fade from sunlight or foot traffic. They are also more stain-resistant since the fibers have already been fully stained. This makes it much more difficult for them to absorb a new stain. Some solution-dyed carpets can also be cleaned with very heavy-duty cleaning compounds such as bleach without color fading!

Whether you are looking for commercial or residential carpet, understanding some of the added value to solution-dyed carpet may help you in the decision-making process. While non-solution-dyed carpets are still excellent choices, this added benefit should not be ignored. For more insight on flooring and manufacturing benefits, make sure to subscribe!
