Kitchen Remodel Ideas

December 23, 2020 By creatingyourspace Leave a Comment

Kitchen remodels are a big commitment. Be careful of trends that will go out of style, or are too buyer specific. A helpful tip is to look at trends that increase the value of your life and home. The following tips have staying power, but also address convenience, lifestyle needs and enjoyment!

  1. Transitional design – Contemporary designs can often be cold while keeping a busy kitchen clean and uncluttered is sometimes a challenge. You can overcome this challenge by using transitional design, which combines both traditional and contemporary elements while allowing you to use the old and new and eliminate kitschy fads!
  2. You can’t go wrong with white. Try layering white by using white walls, white cabinets and white tile backsplashes. White never goes out of style!
  3. Want some color? Try neutral grays with pops of color – gray is close enough to white that you can use in all areas of the country by adding warmth with wood floors, or light and airy touches with pops of color. Just don’t overdo the color, a little goes a long way!
  4. Flooring has come a long way since your last remodel! Luxury vinyl tile (LVT) and luxury vinyl plank (LVP) flooring is waterproof, looks like the real thing and is easy to maintain.
  5. Quartz countertops – Quartz has been rated the toughest material for countertops, it resists burns, cracking and scratches. Quartz comes in a variety of solid colors and the look of real granite. Quartz beats natural stone in toughness, ease of cleaning and does NOT have to be sealed every year like granite.
  6. Refrigeration – With today’s busy schedules, rethink your refrigeration needs. Add a wine cooler for the adults, add a juice/water fridge for the children. If you love to cook and take it seriously, add a counter-height produce fridge to your island. Add refrigeration where you need it!
  7. LED lighting – Kitchen LED lighting is a wonderful way to add lighting to your prep area while providing esthetically pleasing touches to your kitchen. Add rope or cove lights to cabinets, under cabinets, and recessed canned lighting. LED lighting creates ambiance, and comes in soft to bright white, and a multitude of colors. LED’s are extremely efficient, lasting five times longer than standard bulbs. They emit very little heat, so you can keep the lights on forever!

3 Reasons Why You Should Use Luxury Vinyl

January 2, 2020 By creatingyourspace 5 Comments

Is it time to upgrade your existing flooring, flip a property, or build a new home? If so, the time is now to start looking at Luxury Vinyl Flooring. The best vinyl plank flooring brands offer an affordable, waterproof, faux wood flooring product with excellent warmth/texture and installs with a peel-and-stick technique or clicks together with ease. Luxury Vinyl Tile (LVT) is a luxury vinyl product that looks like stone or ceramic tile, complete with gorgeous natural colors and surface texture that feels like the real thing. Some styles are even made to be installed with grout, but installation will increase due to the labor. Talk about realistic! We have listed three reasons below for why you should use luxury vinyl. Let’s take a look!

The Product Will Not Break the Bank

Your LVP flooring will be a fraction of the cost of hardwood flooring. In fact, LVP’s installation is so much easier to install than hardwood floors, ceramic tile, or natural stone. This feature is a benefit to the homeowner with lower installation charges compared to standard flooring installation charges. With a reasonable installation and product cost, homeowners can have a beautiful flooring product at a great price.

It Is Stunning

Luxury Vinyl is absolutely gorgeous and has come a very long way regarding its technology and appearance. It will look and feel like hardwood, ceramic tile, and natural stone. In fact, you will be amazed at the styles and colors available in Luxury Vinyl.

It Is Durable

Everyday wear and tear is a given on flooring with children, pets, water spills, etc. Even the best engineered wood flooring tends to get scratched and can suffer water damage if spills are not cleaned. Linoleum may eventually start to tear and rip while carpet can get stained and lose its shape. Flooring installers and experts will tell you that LVP floors are tough as nails! Many brands are 100% waterproof and constructed with cork backing, making the floors comfortable, quiet, and forgiving when items are dropped. If you have children and pets, you know how loud it can be when they are running through the house on hardwood and tile floors. Again, with the cork backing, the floors are more soundproof while being easier on your back and legs if standing for long periods of time.

All in all, luxury vinyl is an incredible flooring solution. Be sure to ask your sales representative for more information to learn everything that this incredible product has to offer.

Understanding Your Flooring: Luxury Vinyl Planking (LVP)

May 10, 2019 By creatingyourspace Leave a Comment

LVP has come a long way over the years. Now being the fast grossing floor in the industry, this versatile option has many beautiful planks available that can replicate wood or tile. It is an excellent solution for rooms that you want hardwood, but the application would not work. While functionality, affordability, and durability can all be determining factors in your flooring, we want to help give you a better understanding of LVP and see if it is best suited for your needs. Let’s take a look!

LVP and LVT are both extremely durable flooring options. Typically, these floating floors are a substitute option for areas that you would like a hardwood or tile look. With high-quality replica flooring, which is more durable, this is an excellent option for any room in your home.
Vinyl planking flooring is very durable; however, it is not “scratch proof.” That being said, most mills would consider most LVP floorings a commercial grade flooring, so it should hold up great in most homes.
One reason LVP has taken over the flooring industry is not just for its durability but for that fact that most LVP’s today are 100% waterproof. This means you can install these floors in basements, mudrooms, bathrooms, and kitchens without hesitance.
Hard surface flooring is not typically considered “comfortable.” Some LVPs may be equipped with an attached backing or underlayment. This may dampen sounds and make the floor a tad softer, yet you probably will not want to kneel or lay on this kind of flooring for long periods of time.
LVP is an excellent stain resistant flooring option. If you are afraid of staining carpet, consider installing LVP in your home.
Spill-proof, accident proof, and pet-proof: LVP tends to claim it all. Remember, it can still scratch under extreme circumstances, and it may not be the softest floor for your child to crawl around on when they are young. Yet, this floor is excellent for messes and accidents.
While not as affordable as carpet, LVP will last longer. If you consider yourself to be “handy,” you may be able to save some money and install these flooring systems yourself.

LVP is one of the most versatile floors on the market. It has proven itself in many applications and has passed the test of time. LVP can be installed in any room in your home. It is great for children, heavy traffic, aesthetics, and much more!
