As you plan your bedroom’s design, don’t limit yourself to the realities provided by photos in magazines. Think outside the film by checking out favorite paintings for ideas.
This image provides the feeling of a warm and feminine space. If this appeals to you, then you can borrow ideas for your own bedroom.
Start with the window area. This looks like a window with an arch at the top, but look closer and you can see that the curve is created with molding and paint. For a few dollars and a little effort, you can recreate something similar. If painting is not your skill, look for stencils of flowers you like and use colors that coordinate with your room’s palette.
The window seat can be replaced with a small bench or loveseat. Use cushions and pillows that coordinate with the rest of the room. Sheer or lace curtains would mimic the feel of these soft drapes.
The upholstered chair is a classic wing chair design and easy to find. If you upholster the chair and a small ottoman in the same striped fabric, you’re well on the way to recreating this painting’s appeal. Add a dresser or chest of drawers in honey pine, and consider using a glaze to create the green cast for the drawers. Add an oval mirror above it to stay consistent with the painting.
You can use your imagination for flooring that would fit this room. Wood with several area rugs has the right appeal for the space. Carpeting in cream, light green or even lavender would set the room off beautifully.
A little money, time and imagination is all it will take to capture the inviting aspects of this room in your own home. Just pick one or more ideas to make your space as appealing as this painting.
