If you want to create a bedroom as feminine and inviting as this one, it’s fairly easy and not too expensive. With just a little thought and effort, you or your daughter could have a room like this.
Let’s start with the bed. The headboard is upholstered. These are available at a minimal cost, or you can make your own. Look on the HGTV web site under upholstered headboard for instructions.
The headboard and linens all have a soft white or just off-white tone. This is matched by the sheer canopy. The walls are buttermilk-colored and the upholstered bench’s soft peachy-gold is actually a darker version of this same color. Peach and dark gold also appear on the floral bolsters and the inviting roses sitting on the bench.
This is a room that is more about softness than colors. The light lavender carpeting works in spite of the color because the light tone fits with the rest of the design. The texture of the carpeting also adds an inviting element to the room.
Recreating the canopy effect requires two drapery rods that match the style of the room. Attach both to the ceiling: one at the head of the bed and one at the foot. The canopy itself is simply yards of thin sheer fabric. This particular look takes about 25 yards. The good news is that the cost of this type of fabric is pretty low.
You will probably have to experiment to get the look you want, but with just a bit of work you can create a lovely soft bedroom just like this.
