Finding Your Home’s X-Factor

November 26, 2019 By creatingyourspace Leave a Comment

Home is where the heart is. Plus, it is always fun to host guests and family to show off your home design. However, nothing completes a room’s design like that initial “wow” factor. It is always incredible to have something a little extra in your space to really be the focal point of your design. In fact, designers have been using this technique for years, and its time you consider adding it to your own home as well.

Flooring

Flooring can be a stunning feature in any home. The pure aesthetics and raw, authenticity of a solid hardwood floor are unrivaled. Plus, you can help to highlight this strength in your home by incorporating other woods to showcase its true beauty. You can add complementary wood cabinets, tables, and chairs, all with the intent to help make your floor “pop” even more. If you have tile flooring, consider what colors are in the veins of the tiles. You can add soft beiges or tans to your room, which will help balance your design throughout its entirety.

Lighting

Lighting can be another substantial focal point in design. Maybe you have high-rise ceilings. If so, do not take away from this highlight of your space; instead, you can add a chandelier to your high-rise ceilings or use light to guide people’s eyes toward other focal points in your room. Perhaps, you have a favorite piece of artwork you would like to display. Using accent lighting, you can highlight this area in your home to help it have more depth and add more value to the space.

View

Your X-factor can come in all shapes or sizes. Perhaps your X -factor is your home’s view. Maybe you live in a high-rise building in the city, a beach house, or the side of a mountain. You can give homage throughout your home to this view by incorporating décor that complements the scenic view. Every space has its one X-Factor. Your view could be one that you have been missing and need to highlight!

You want to be able to recognize what your home’s X -factor is since every home is different. Remember, you may have more than one X-factor in every room. The key is to help accentuate this X-factor with your décor and design styling. Allow your home’s key highlights to speak for themselves, but make sure your design gives homage to these areas.
